I spent five years working as the official photographer for homeless charity Crisis, documenting life inside the shelters at Christmas time. Safe refuge is only part of the story. Each shelter offers a wide range of services and facilities, made possible by an army of volunteers.
In the past Crisis used empty buildings such as the London Arena and the old Leadenhall tower as shelters. The charity now prefers to use buildings that have all the infrastructure in place such as schools which are empty over Christmas.
This gallery showcases the incredible work they do and offers a rare insight into life inside the Crisis Christmas shelters.
